
While I typically find writing about myself (especially in the third person, which is how these biographies are typically written) to be an uncomfortable exercise, I recognise the importance of sharing one’s journey. My musical roots trace back to a blue-collar upbringing in Queensland, where I honed my early skills in brass bands under the guidance of Mel Neilsen.
I have been incredibly fortunate to study under and draw inspiration from esteemed mentors, including John Hoffman, Scott Tinkler, Paul Williamson, Marc Hannaford, and Tristram Williams, among others. Their generosity and expertise have profoundly shaped my development as a musician.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with extraordinary artists whose work I deeply admire. These include internationally acclaimed musicians such as Jim Black (USA), George Garzone (USA), John Abercrombie (USA), John Taylor (UK), Mike Nock (NZ), and Mark Helias (USA), as well as remarkable talents within Australia’s vibrant local scene.
